For nearly 40 years, Monai Village founder Patricia Artis has cared for youth impacted by the foster care system. Today, Monai Village provides affordable housing, guidance, and real-world support for young adults aging out of care — helping them transition from survival mode to stability and independence.
We’re Already Making an Impact
Since launching our pilot program in November 2023, Monai Village has provided housing and support services to young adults aging out of foster care in Northern Nevada.
- 11 youth served
- 7 youth currently in the program
- 2 youth successfully moved on to their next step
- Youth are working, looking for work, or attending education/career programs
- Participants have maintained their apartments for almost a year or more
It Takes a Village!
Young adults aging out of foster care are often expected to navigate housing, employment, finances, transportation, and adulthood without the consistent support system many young people rely on. With rising rental costs, no rental history, limited employment history, and few adult advocates, stable housing can become nearly impossible.
Monai Village bridges that gap by providing affordable housing, guidance, mentorship, accountability, and community during one of the most vulnerable transitions in a young person’s life.
