Take Action
Not just to survive, but thrive. The Reality
Each year, more than 400,000 children experience foster care in the United States.
They come from a mixture of circumstances– Despite good intentions for a better life in foster care, government bureaucracies often fail to deliver on promises to create a better life for these helpless children.
As a result, they move from home to home and school to school, suffer abuse, and lack the stability and support provided by a loving family. Those who age out of the system can endure problems such as poverty, compromised health, and unemployment.
Unfortunately, without access to support or resources, they can possibly struggle with mental illness, substance abuse, or incarceration at higher rates than their peers.
We at Monai Village say children who age out of foster care are more than just statistics. They deserve to have a future. They should have hope. And we as a whole are the solution. So how can you help?
